That idea changes a lot.

Because most people have been taught to think about themselves through the language of pathology:

diagnosis,

deficit,

dysfunction,

“What’s wrong with me?”

But in my experience, that is often the wrong starting point.

Many of the struggles people live with are not best understood as proof that they are broken.

They are better understood as signs of underdeveloped capacities.

That is one of the reasons I created the Lifelong Capacities Map®:

an evidence-based framework of 12 core human capacities48 specific competencies, and a 5-point developmental scale to help people move from surviving to thriving.

This is also why I am increasingly interested in PsycheVita:

psychological and emotional vitality.

Not just:

“What diagnosis fits?”

But:

“What capacity is missing here?”

“What needs strengthening next?”

“What would growth actually look like?”

In this short video, I introduce that framework.

And in the full video, I explain what the map is, how it works, and how it can help transform hidden struggles into strengths.

There is also a free worksheet you can download today to start mapping your own development.

You are not broken.

You may be underdeveloped.

And that can change.
